Poor digestion causes alterations of the microbiome, biofilm formation, and sets the stage for inflammation. An unbalanced microbiome not only compromises digestion, but can be implicated in a wide range of health concerns. In this practical and dynamic presentation, Dr. Mike Murray will share valuable insights on the healing power of enzymes in a range of GI disorders

About the speaker:

Naturopathic Doctor, Author, “The Magic of Food” and “The Encyclopedia of Natural Medicine” Michael T. Murray, N.D., is regarded as a pioneer of, and one of the world’s leading authorities on, natural medicine. He is a former faculty member and serves on the Board of Regents of Bastyr University in Seattle, the nation’s first accredited naturopathic college, where he received his doctorate in naturopathic medicine in 1985. Murray has written more than 30 books about natural approaches to health and is co-author of the “Textbook of Natural Medicine,” and the best-selling “The Encyclopedia of Natural Medicine,” that has been translated into 14 different languages and has sold more than 2 million copies. His other books include, “What The Drug Companies Won't Tell You And Your Doctor Doesn't Know,” and his recently released “The Magic of Food.” In 2016, Murray received the Nutrition Business Journal Award for Education as an acknowledgement to his lifelong career of educating practitioners and the general public on natural medicine through books and publications, public speaking events, workshops and conferences, as well as through major national media coverage, such as PBS, MSNBC, NBC’s “Dateline,” ABC’s “20/20” and “Primetime,” CBS News “Sunday Morning” and a recent special report on “The Dr. Oz Show” about the science behind natural medicine.

Gut Testing: Clinical Aspects Workshop

What are the events leading up to the decisions for gut testing? Which tests are pertinent to the various conditions and what are the clinical aspects we need to consider when we get the results including dietary changes.

This event will cover SIBO and other common gut tests, as well as the key clinical aspects we must consider as practitioners. 

About the speakers:

                                               Sue McGarrigle is a clinical nutritionist and naturopath and has practised as a clinical Nutritionist since 2001. As a lecturer to college and university students to Masters level, Sue has trained hundreds of healthcare and medical practitioners in many aspects of nutritional therapy. She writes as a regular contributor of specialist nutrition articles for magazines and newspapers. Her lectures offer a comprehensive approach to nutrition practice and practical naturopathic techniques. 

Mark Howard the Managing Director from Biolab the London based medical referral laboratory which specialises in nutritional and environmental medicine will discuss their extensive range of profiles not only for assessing the health of the digestive tract but other effects of twenty first century lifestyles on our bodies.

Alex Manos BSc MSc NASM IFMCP is one of the few Institute for Functional Medicine Certified Practitioners in the UK. He has a master’s degree in Personalised Nutrition and has completed Dr Siebecker’s certification in SIBO treatment. Away from his one-to-one work with clients, Alex lectures at various institutions and runs a mentoring program for practitioners.

Dr Elisabeth Philipps PhD, BSc Hons, BSc Nutr Med, is a neuropharmacologist and Functional Medicine nutritional therapist with over 18 years’ experience. She runs a thriving health consultancy specialising in nutritional neurology. Elisabeth is a consultant for Nutrigold co-ordinating their busy technical and educational team. Elisabeth is passionate about patient-centred education and Functional Medicine.

How to interpret tongue signs - workshop

At this workshop, Dr. Ye Liuxhong will teach you how to check, read and interpret tongue signs of your client.  You will learn, the TCM approach to Tongue diagnosis and differential diagnosis using tongue.

About the speaker

Dr Ye Liuzhong is a Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner. He graduated from the prestigious Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and has a Masters and Ph.D, as well as completing advanced training in digestive and rheumatic diseases. He is a lecturer, runs his own clinical practice in Norwich and has developed his own diagnosis system that involves tongue, pulse and meridian palpating differentiation.
