Ayurveda places great importance on digestion and detoxification, and the role that emotional and psychological factors such as trauma have on these systems. We will explore an Ayurvedic mind-body approach to detoxification from a lifestyle and nutritional perspective, together with strategies for working with the emotions experienced during detoxification.
About Andrew
Andrew Shakeshaft MSc.(Ayu med), MAPA is an experienced Ayurvedic clinical practitioner and educator with 20 years’ experience working in private practice and residential Ayurvedic retreat settings. He is the co-founder of Essential Ayurveda, a supplier of traditional Ayurvedic oils and supplements; and Essential Ayurveda Retreats, a residential Ayurveda and panchakarma centre. Andrew is the U.K teacher trainer for Amnanda therapies in the U.K, and has a private practice in Norfolk and London offering Ayurvedic consultations and amnanda treatments for a range of health issues including digestive disorders, autoimmune disorders, cardio metabolic disorders, chronic fatigue and general dietary and nutritional consultations. Post graduate studies include research into metabolic disorders and also working with complex trauma and PTSD. Rooted in Ayurveda, Andrew’s effective approach to mind-body medicine has helped his clients and students create lifelong transformational changes to their health and wellbeing working through life’s struggles with increased equanimity and grace.
