Why Rest Isn’t Enough: Understanding the Nervous System in ME/CFS
This talk explores the complex and often misunderstood role of the nervous system in ME/CFS, focusing on the interplay between immune and neuronal dysregulation and how this contributes to persistent fatigue and multisystem symptoms. We will examine emerging evidence around autoimmune markers in ME/CFS and their potential impact on nervous system function, alongside the mechanisms driving sleep dysregulation and non-restorative rest. Drawing on both the latest research and real-world clinical practice, the session will highlight practical, clinically useful interventions, illustrated through case studies. Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of the significance of the neuro-immune maladaptation in ME/CFS and actionable insights to support patients with chronic and complex presentations.
