Health Secretary: Briefing & Q&A – Standing Up for Naturopathy

This week, ANP Politics took part in a briefing and Q&A with the Health Secretary. He shared progress since taking office in 2024 – 5 million more appointments, 2,000 new GPs, 7,000 new doctors, and almost 20,000 new nurses and midwives.

He also spoke about investment in AI, the new NHS app, and advances in early diagnostics, all framed around giving patients more power and choice. That’s a message we welcome – and one we’ll continue to build on.

When we asked about plans to include diet and lifestyle medicine in the national preventive health strategy, he didn’t give a clear answer. So we’re keeping the pressure on. The ANP is determined to ensure that naturopathic approaches are recognised as essential parts of preventive healthcare.

We’re encouraged by the focus on patient empowerment  and we’ll keep making sure holistic, practices have a strong voice in national health policy.
