Community Outreach Coordinator (self-employed) 

Responsible to: The Herb Society Trustees Hours: 4 hrs per week – between 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday  
Remuneration: £13.74 per hour

The Herb Society is looking to recruit a Community Outreach Coordinator to work closely with our ambassadors and volunteers, to help update and improve our Ambassador Programme and to work on developing a herbal network of people that help support the Society.  
The Herb Society is an educational charity established in 1927. We aim to provide information for all people interested in herbs, from the amateur to the professional.
We offer an individual, joint, overseas and corporate membership, and we work with several ambassadors across the country to support us in our mission.
Our 100 year anniversary is approaching in 2027, so it is an exciting time to join our team! Our ambassadors are an enthusiastic and passionate group of people that work with us to help promote The Herb Society.
They are medical herbalists, naturopaths, nutritional therapists, herbologists, foragers, historians, teachers, chefs, storytellers, gardeners/growers, landscape architects, writers and more.
They are a critical part of promoting the Society, and connecting herb lovers across the UK. They are asked to promote us at their events, on their social media platforms and websites.
This role will work closely with the ambassadors to help support their promotion of the Society. The Herb Society also has a small but dedicated group of volunteers that help us with events, our blog, book club and more.
This post will work closely with our volunteers in a volunteer coordinator capacity, improving lines of communication and acting as a liaison between our volunteers and trustees and support staff.  

Responsibilities will include:
Working with The Herb Society trustees and Operational Support Officer to review and develop the ambassador programme.
Acting as a main point of contact for current ambassadors and volunteers to support them in their roles.
Building a network of herbal contacts throughout the UK as possible future ambassadors and volunteers.
Creating and managing support material for the ambassadors (badges, logos, membership package details and promotions, leaflets etc). 
Managing Ambassador Agreements and checking requirements are fulfilled on both sides.
Engaging with ambassadors’ socials, websites etc. and enabling collaboration between The Herb Society and our ambassadors.
Occasional spot checks on ambassador representation of The Herb Society
Developing resources to support volunteers
Organising and running regular meeting with both ambassadors and volunteers to deliver updates and offer support
Any additional duties that may be required 

Skills, Experience and Knowledge requirements:Essential:
Excellent communication skills, both in-person and online
Efficiency and excellent time management – motivated to work autonomously as well as part of a team.
This role will be home based
Knowledge of social media platforms and other online media
Confident in liaising with a variety of stakeholders/partners, including trustees, staff members, volunteers, The Herb Society members and ambassadors.

Desirable:
Content creation experience
Experience with or the ability to learn new media technologies
An interest and/or knowledge of herbs and the herbal community
