Practitioner Membership Criteria
To gain ANP membership, the below criteria must be met.
Naturopathic Nutritionist
Qualified to exit level 6 with an accredited training provider
200 supervised clinical hours.
Naturopathic Acupuncturist
Qualified to level 6 with an accredited training provider
400 supervised clinical hours.
Naturopath
Qualified Naturopathic Nutritionist, Herbalist, Homeopath or Acupuncturist with addition training in Naturopathy.
Naturopathic Herbalist
Qualified to level 6 with an accredited training provider
400 supervised clinical hours.
Naturopathic Homeopath
Qualified to level 6 with an accredited training provider
100 supervised clinical hours and/or current or past member of SOH, HINT or ARH.
Other professionals applying Principles of Naturopathy.
Health Coach
Qualified to level 5 with an accredited training provider.
Minimum of 600 training hours which includes naturopathic principles.
Natural Chef
Qualified to level 5 with an accredited training provider.
Minimum of 500 training hours which includes naturopathic principles.
ANP Practitioner Membership Packages
Full Member – £140 per year
Practitioner members are fully qualified practitioners of at least one discipline such as Nutritional Therapy, Herbal Medicine, Acupuncture or Homeopathy. Subject to acceptance.
Associate Member – £95 per year
Associate Membership is open to non-practising therapists, those who do not yet meet ANP’s full membership standards, and anyone who wishes to support the work of the ANP without being listed as a practising therapist. Subject to acceptance.
Graduate Member – £90 for 1 year
Graduate members are those who have qualified in Nutritional Therapy, Herbal Medicine, Homeopathy or Acupuncture within the last 12 months. Subject to acceptance.
Student Member – £45 per year of study
Student members are those who are currently studying to become a practitioner of Nutritional Therapy, Herbal Medicine, Acupuncture, Homeopath, Health Coach or Natural Chef. Subject to acceptance.
*Your membership subscription will renew automatically every year unless cancelled. New Full Members are subject to a £20 non-refundable sign-up fee. If your membership application is unsuccessful the membership fee, less £20 will be refunded. Our administration team may also request further supporting documentation to illustrate you have met our eligibility requirements.
Health Coach and Natural Chef memberships:
Health Coach – £140 per year
Join ANP as a Health Coach and gain access to CPD webinars, seminars and training. Subject to acceptance.
Natural Chef – £130 per year
Join ANP as a Natural Chef Member and gain access to CPD webinars, seminars, and training. Subject to acceptance.

Return to Practice
Return to Practice:
Break from Practice of 2–3 Years
Practitioners who have been out of clinical practice for between two and three years must demonstrate that their clinical reasoning and case management skills remain current.
Requirements may include:
- Submission of two written case studies demonstrating appropriate case-taking, assessment and treatment planning
- Evidence of relevant continuing professional development (CPD) undertaken during the period out of practice.
- Review of cases by the ANP or a designated assessor.
- Practitioners are expected to complete the return to practice requirements within 3–6 months of approval of their return to practice plan.
Administrative review fee: £150
Break from Practice of 3–7 Years
Practitioners who have been out of clinical practice for between three and seven years will be required to undertake refresher training to ensure that their knowledge and clinical practice remain current.
Requirements may include:
- Completion of an approved refresher programme relevant to the practitioner’s modality.
- Evidence of updated professional practice knowledge, including areas such as clinicalgovernance, safety, and professional standards
- Completion of case-taking or clinical competency assessment
- Participation in supervised clinical observation, mentoring, or supervised consultations
- Practitioners are expected to complete the return to practice requirements within 6–12 months, depending on the scope of training and supervision required.
The ANP may recommend suitable training providers where appropriate.
Break from Practice for over 7 Years
Practitioners who have been out of clinical practice for over 7 years will normally be required to undertake substantial retraining before returning to practice. This may include:
- Repeating core elements of their original practitioner training, or
- Completing an equivalent accredited programme demonstrating competence in their modality.
- Practitioners are expected to complete the required retraining within 12–36 months, depending on the nature and extent of the training programme.
Where appropriate, recognition of prior learning (RPL) may be considered.
The ANP reserves the right to determine appropriate retraining requirements based on the practitioner’s previous qualifications and professional experience.
ANP Additional Membership Fees
ANP additional membership fees
- A £20 late fee is applied for Full Members who do not renew within 1 year of their membership expiring. Members will need to submit their CPD portfolio to confirm CPD has been maintained.
- If CPD has not been maintained they will need to submit 1 x Case Study at a cost of £50
- Graduates who do not join The ANP within 1 year of completing their studies are subject to the normal new full membership fee of £160 (and £140 thereafter)
