2025 Annual Member Report
As we reflect on the past year, we are proud to share a report that highlights real progress, growing influence, and sustained advocacy on behalf of naturopathic practitioners, patients, and the wider ecosystem that supports health. This year has been one of visibility, momentum, and collaboration .
Your continued engagement has been central to that success.
Campaigns We Led Major Insurance Recognition for Homeopathy
This year marked a landmark breakthrough for our homeopaths. ANP-registered Homeopaths are now officially recognised by major UK private health insurers, including Allianz Partners, AXA Health, and Vitality Health.
This recognition represents a significant step forward for professional credibility and public access.
Clients can now seek homeopathic care with greater confidence, knowing that consultations may be eligible for reimbursement.
We encourage all eligible practitioners to ensure their details are up to date on Healthcode’s Private Practice Register so they can fully benefit from this opportunity.

Sustainable Healthcare & Stress Reduction Campaign
In collaboration with the Integrated Healthcare Collaborative (IHC), we launched a year‑long public education campaign focused on stress reduction and sustainable healthcare.Drawing on expertise from ANP members and partner organisations, we are sharing weekly, evidence‑informed health tips across social media for a full year. These messages are also being shared with MPs and Ministers, positioning naturopathic principles firmly within conversations about prevention, cost‑saving, and the NHS 10‑Year Plan. Our aim is simple but powerful: to inspire achievable steps toward better health while amplifying positive, preventive health messages through a growing national audience.
Traditional European Medicine on the Global Stage
The 4th World Health Congress in Prague brought together leaders in natural medicine from around the world. Our European partner ANME attended, strengthening international cooperation between traditional and integrative medicine communities.
A highlight was the presentation by Nora Laubstein (ANME) and Milena Simeoni on the campaign to recognise Traditional European Medicine as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. Support continues to build, with next steps focused on formal nomination by one or more European countries. This work safeguards traditional knowledge, professional identity, and cultural heritage — and we are proud to be part of it.
ANP Politics: Shaping the NHS 10‑Year Plan
The ANP continues to lobby for inclusion of naturopathic approaches within the NHS’s proposed Personal Health Budgets under the Fit for the Future plan.Personal Health Budgets would allow eligible patients to control a defined NHS budget for their care — choosing therapies and services aligned with their individual needs. This represents a real opportunity for naturopathy to be part of future, patient‑centred healthcare delivery. In October, ANP Politics participated in a briefing and Q&A with the Health Secretary. While progress was shared on workforce expansion, digital health, and diagnostics, clarity on diet and lifestyle medicine within preventive health strategy was lacking. We remain encouraged by the emphasis on patient choice and empowerment — and resolute in ensuring naturopathic approaches are recognised as essential to preventive healthcare.By working alongside patient advocacy groups, we are ensuring that naturopathic practitioners are present at the table as these frameworks are shaped.
Food, Health & Public Protection Campaigns
- Insects in food: ANP has taken a clear position opposing increased reliance on insects as a protein source, highlighting concerns around human health and the lack of historical dietary safety. We continue to advocate for traditional plant‑based proteins as sustainable alternatives.
- House of Lords Food, Diet and Obesity Report: We applied sustained pressure on the House of Commons and Department of Health to act on the Recipe for Health report. While responses have been positive, meaningful action remains limited — and we will continue to push for reform.
Campaigns We Supported
Fluoridation of London’s Water
ANP Politics strongly objected to proposals to fluoridate London’s water supply, raising concerns about mass medication, consent, and public health ethics. As the issue moves toward public consultation, we continue to support the UK Fluoride Free Alliance and encourage member engagement.
Nature, Biodiversity & Health
- Natural England Strategy (2025–2030): We welcomed the recognition of nature as central to health, security, and economic resilience, while emphasising the need for accountability and action beyond high‑level strategy.
- Wildlife Trusts Campaign:Â We supported efforts to highlight biodiversity loss and the protection of habitats essential to medicinal plants and healthy ecosystems.
Food System Reform & Youth Advocacy
We are proud supporters of Bite Back 2030, a youth‑led movement campaigning for a healthier food environment for children. Their work aligns closely with naturopathic principles of prevention, equity, and addressing root causes of poor health.
News from Europe
2025 has been one of the most successful years to date for traditional medicine advocacy in Europe:
- Working groups established in the Czech and Italian Parliaments
- Representatives from 24 EU member states attended the ANME annual meeting
- ANP represented Irish members, ensuring their interests were heard; we were the only organisation doing so
ANME continues to campaign to protect practitioner qualifications, access to supplements, and food safety amid growing regulatory and technological pressures.
Industry & Professional UpdatesSocial Prescribing & NHS Engagement
We are proud to support the National Academy for Social Prescribing’s Social Prescribing Champions Scheme — a clear and practical route for practitioners wishing to collaborate more closely with the NHS.Champions can advocate for holistic, community‑based care while accessing research, resources, and national recognition for their leadership. Global Herbal Medicine Market Growth
The global herbal medicine market is projected to grow from USD 105.24 billion (2025) to USD 580.81 billion by 2034, with a 20.9% CAGR.This growth reflects increasing public demand for natural, preventive, and self‑directed health solutions — positioning herbalists as trusted guides in a rapidly expanding field.
Regulatory Watch: Food, Advertising & Supplements
- Junk food advertising ban delayed until January 2026 due to industry lobbying — reinforcing the continued influence of Big Food and the importance of advocacy.
- EU review of high‑dose supplements: We are closely monitoring proposed Maximum Permitted Levels for nutrients including Vitamin D, B6, Magnesium, Zinc, Iron, Monacolin K, and Alpha Lipoic Acid, and working with European partners to protect access and practitioner choice.
WHO TCIM Strategy (2025–2034)The World Health Organization’s new strategy signals commitment to integrating traditional medicine into mainstream healthcare — while raising concerns about over‑regulation, loss of diversity, and the marginalisation of less commercially attractive treatments.ANP continues coordinated advocacy with European partners to ensure authentic traditional medicine practices are protected, innovative practice is supported, and bureaucracy does not undermine patient care.
In Memoriam
This year we also said farewell to two much‑loved practitioners: Ray Griffiths and Patricia Daly. Their dedication, wisdom, and contribution to the profession will be deeply missed and warmly remembered.
